Elon Musk Launches Grok, a ChatGPT Rival. xAI, Elon Musk’s freshly announced AI business, has now launched its first product, Grok. This is a direct competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT as well as other generative AI-focused chatbots.
Elon Musk Launches Grok, a ChatGPT Rival
Musk just introduced his chatbot on X, claiming that it is “the best there is” in “some elements.” Grok presently outperforms GPT 3.5 in various academic assessments like as maths and coding. Grok, the chatbot, contains real-time information from X and is powered by a new engine dubbed Grok-1.
In a series of evaluations using typical machine-learning benchmarks designed to measure math and reasoning abilities, Grok surpassed all other models in its compute class, including ChatGPT-3.5 and Inflection-1, according to xAI. It was, however, only topped by models trained with substantially more training data and compute resources, such as GPT-4.
xAI assessed Grok, Claude-2, and GPT-4 on the 2023 Hungarian national high school exams in mathematics, in addition to the normal machine learning standards. Grok and Claude-2 both obtained C grades with 59% and 55%, respectively, whereas GPT-4 received a B with a score of 68%.
Musk also stated that Grok is programmed to reply with sarcasm and humour. Additionally, it will “answer spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems.”
Grok is still in its early beta stage, according to xAI, but it is improving significantly every week. The company is also working on adding extra safeguards to ensure that Grok is not misused. Grok is currently only available to a small number of users in the United States and is included in the X Premium Plus subscription for $16 per month.
