Apple has released its first beta, which includes a very early look at Apple Intelligence. Unfortunately, you cannot gain access through the iOS 18 beta; instead, you must install the iOS 18.1 beta and join the Apple Intelligence beta waitlist. This is how it works and what you should know.

How to install iOS 18.1 beta to test Apple Intelligence?
Warning: iOS 18.1 is intended for developers to test iPhone devices – Apple Intelligence is currently in very early beta testing.
- Installing this beta requires an iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max/16 Pro/Pro Max.
- A paid Apple Developer account is not required; nevertheless, you may need to sign in with your Apple ID at developer.apple.com. If you haven’t already
- Make a new backup of your iPhone or iPad—important in case you choose or need to downgrade (Apple suggests doing a Mac or PC backup).
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. (If you aren’t using an iOS 18 beta build yet, you may need to upgrade to one first.)
- Tap General > Software Update.
- Select the Beta Updates button.
- Now, select iOS 18.1 Developer Beta (at the bottom).
- Tap it at the bottom to change your Apple ID connected with the beta.
- When you’re done, choose Back.
- Search for iOS 18.1 Developer Beta to display, then choose Download and Install.
