How to lock WhatsApp on iPhone with Face ID?

Follow these steps to lock WhatsApp on your iPhone 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, X or older models so that your face, fingerprint, or passcode are required to view your WhatsApp chats even if your iPhone is already unlocked:

  1. Launch WhatsApp.
  2. In the bottom right corner of the screen, select the Settings tab.
  3. Select Privacy.
  4. Select Screen Lock.
  5. Toggle Face ID is required / Touch ID is required on
  6. Choose how long Face ID or Touch ID will be required.

When Screen Lock is on, you can still reply to notifications and answer calls, but WhatsApp chats cannot be accessed without the registered face or fingerprint.

Is it possible to lock WhatsApp with a password?

It’s not an official technique per such, but rather a defect in the feature. It merely disables WhatsApp’s authorization to use Face ID or Touch ID, but it should still work and allow you to access WhatsApp chats with the passcode.
